Matthew HowseVice President, Academic

Welcome Grenfell students,

My name is Matthew Howse. I will be your Vice-President Academic for the 2018-2019 academic year. I am currently working towards a degree in environmental sustainability with a minor in economics.

As your Vice-President Academic it is my duty to represent your interests and your views to administration and faculty. In this position, I do my utmost to aid students through academic regulation, encourage a process that takes both regulations and student needs in to account, and conduct business in a professional environment. In many cases, I am the voice of students on the various university committees not only on this campus, but also within the larger Memorial University Senate. In that capacity, I give my word to always advocate for the best interests of students. It is also within my mandate to maintain relations with caucuses on campus – to ensure their voices are heard and act upon concerns they may have.

My academic interests mainly involve the province and include budgetary issues, industrial growth, and sustainable development. My office is always open and can be found in AS276H. If you don’t feel comfortable meeting in person, I can also be reached by email at, or by phone at (709) 637-7186. I look forward to working with all of you and good luck in your studies!
